Dr. Robert T. Martin, MD

Robert Martin, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is a cardiologist at Pierremont Cardiology who welcomes adult patients with many types of heart conditions that affect lifestyle and longevity. He diagnoses and treats cardiovascular disease. Diagnostic testing procedures include nuclear stress testing, transthoracic echocardiography and outpatient Holter monitoring.  

He specializes in interventional cardiology with training in techniques to open blood vessels to the heart. Therapeutic procedures include balloon angioplasty, coronary stenting, rotational atherectomy and complex catheter-based coronary interventions.  

Dr. Martin looks forward to working with patients each day at Pierremont Cardiology, as he provides the best medical care available for patients. He educates and counsels people about treatment options that can improve their quality of life and Dr. Martin is satisfied when patients recover. 

A Shreveport native, Dr. Martin graduated from Calvary Baptist Academy. After college at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport School of Medicine. His medical training with an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship also took place at LSUHSC-S. 

Dr. Martin holds American Board of Internal Medicine certifications in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (FSCAI). Other memberships include the Louisiana State Medical Society, American Heart Association and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. 

Away from the clinic, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is very active as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and a school board member. Dr. Martin is a founder and director of the Cavalier Youth Football Program and he has been an assistant varsity football coach since 2006. Aside from coaching youth and high school football, Dr. Martin enjoys playing golf.
